Beloved Texas Grandmother Working at Walmart Distribution Center is Killed in Tragic Workplace Accident

Forklift

News of the death of a beloved grandmother who worked at a Texas Walmart distribution center rocked communities across Forth Worth and serves as a stark and serious reminder of the dangers to employees of working with forklifts on the job. According to local news reports, the horrific workplace accident occurred on the morning of Friday, February 16, at around 6 a.m. The Walmart distribution center where the beloved senior worker worked was located at North Beach Street in Fort Worth. Police believe that the 68-year-old grandmother and distribution center worker was working with a forklift when she became pinned between it and a pellet rack. She unfortunately, pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

She is said to have been a longtime employee of Walmart, having worked for the company for 10 years. She was also certified to work with forklifts and other heavy machinery required for work at the distribution center. The family has now hired legal counsel to investigate the untimely death of their beloved family member. The family believes that they were provided with conflicting news about what exactly led up to her death. She was not only a diligent worker, but she was a mother to four adult children and a grandmother to 13 grandchildren. Her family’s attorney stated, “She was planning to attend her granddaughter’s softball game this afternoon after she finished her shift at Walmart. Sadly, she never got that chance.” A Walmart spokesperson added, “The Walmart family is heartbroken over the passing of one of our associates. Our thoughts and prayers are with the associate’s family during this difficult time. We are closing our facility today and offering counseling and other resources to our associates as they cope with this tragic event. We’ll continue working closely with authorities during the investigation.” The family and OSHA continue to investigate the case.
