Orthopedic Clinics in the Metro Atlanta Area

When you are hurt on the job in Georgia there is a high likelihood that the first doctor you see will be at an urgent care center, like Concentra, or Caduceus. These urgent care clinics will often perform basic care, like stitching up wounds or dispensing medication, and they may also order x-rays to check for broken bones.

However, if your injury appears to be more serious, or if the doctor suspects that you may need more testing, like an MRI, you may be referred or recommended for specialized care with an orthopedic specialist. These orthopedic doctors often specialize in treating a specific part of the body, like the back, neck, knee, or shoulder. After ordering diagnostic tests to determine the extent of an injury, they often order additional treatment in the form of physical therapy, medication, injections, and surgery.

Typically, in a workers’ compensation case, the doctors will start with more conservative treatment, like physical therapy, before moving to more invasive treatment, like surgery.

There are many orthopedic clinics in the Atlanta area, but some of the biggest include Resurgens, Peachtree Orthopedics, and OrthoAtlanta. It is very common for one or more of these large clinics to be listed on an employer’s panel of physicians. When you are hurt, you may have to make a quick decision about which clinic, and which doctor, you want to treat with. However, this quick decision may have a long and lasting impact on your care and the outcome of your claim. The doctor you choose in a rush based on how close his clinic is to your house may end up cutting you open to perform surgery!
