Are you allowed to get a second opinion from a doctor of your choice in your Georgia workers’ compensation claim?
Yes. If you are are receiving weekly checks from the insurance company, or you have received weekly checks within the past 120 days, your are entitled to a second opinion with a doctor of your choice. Furthermore, the insurance company will prepay up to $1,200.00 for the second opinion. However, you will want to choose your physician wisely, as the claims adjuster may suggest you use a pro-employer physician for your second opinion.
